Pearl Industry Ltd was founded in 1952 in Japan by Katsumi Yanagisawa and by 1953 had changed it's name to Pearl Musical Instrument Company. In 1957 Pearl started exporting their products Worldwide and produced it's first professional drum kit in 1966 called the "President Series" . Pearl's most popular brand of drum kit was the Export, which is no longer produced and has now been replaced by the Vision Brand.
